- ImageStudio Software Version 1.5
- Announced by Letraset
-
-
- Sophisticated enhancements to the innovative ImageStudio image enhancement
- software were announced last week by Letraset. A new version 1.5, available the
- first week of August, once again breaks new ground in image processing on the
- Macintosh.
-
- The major development to the software lies in a virtual memory management system
- which affects several major areas. First, images larger than the available
- memory may be opened and worked upon with a seamless interface transparent to
- the user. Second, the user may specify the amount of RAM to be used by a
- particular ImageStudio file as well as the amount of memory which can be
- utilized for UNDO. This lets the user maximize available memory for every system
- configuration. Settings may be saved as the default.
-
- Grayscale editing of 256 gray level files is supported at resolutions from 10 to
- 2000 dpi, which currently exceeds the sampling capacities of available scanners.
- This does, however, assure ImageStudio software's continuing value since it's
- positioned to meet the needs of scanner development for the foreseeable future.
-
- Enhanced tools support more spontaneous activity and allow the user to create a
- unique working toolbox. Selection of image area is supported by controllable and
- editable selection tools that allow the user to toggle between freehand
- selection with the Lasso, and a Lasso with line segments. The user can constrain
- a rectangle selection to a square and then zoom in on the selection and edit
- it's region for greater accuracy.
-
- "The first release of ImageStudio software has captured numerous awards from
- many publications around the world and has been used by professionals in the
- industry for the past year, " said Russ McCann, manager of marketing Letraset
- Graphic Design Software. "They have provided us with an updated professional
- specification which we've built into this new version. This enhancement
- maintains Letraset's position as the only provider of gray level paint and image
- enhancement software for the Macintosh. It is a significant piece of technical
- development. "
-
- Additional features included in the new release will include:
- % Unique SetImageSize features supports a working page which is larger the
- workstation's RAM would normally allow.
- % Users can control the grayscale of the entire image or selected regions,
- whether or not portions of the image reside on the hard disk and are controlled
- by the memory management system.
- % Enhanced retouching tools allowing further editing of gray scales and ie
- pixels through blurring, smearing, and the subtle build-up of shades.
- % Users can work with shades offered by the program, matched to imported ,
- graduated in ranges defined by the user, or with patterns developed by the user.
- % There is direct scanner support for the leading Macintosh compatible scr
- and "frame grabber " manufacturers; Data Translation, Sharp, Pixelogic and
- others.
- % Users can work in multiple levels of magnification (6.25% to 1600%) at e
- same time with a virtually seamless interface. All tools and features work at
- all levels of magnification.
- % All pen styles whether provided with the software or developed by the u,
- work with all tools. Tools can be customized and maintained as defaults to an
- individual file, or saved as user defined tools available to any file within the
- application.
-
- ImageStudio version 1.5 will be available, free of charge, to all registered
- users. The software has a suggested retail price of $495.00 in the US. As with
- other Letraset applications, ImageStudio software comes with one year free
- technical support.
-
- "International language versions will be shipped within 60 days of the delivery
- of the English language product, " said Phil Tonge, International Marketing
- Manager. "We are currently shipping in English and three other languages and
- find the international market to be every bit as receptive to the product as the
- American market has been. "
